I’m a vendor - what do I need to know about single-use virtual cards?

  • Updated

This article is for vendors who received an email from Intuit QuickBooks with a single-use virtual card (SUVC) and aren’t sure why or what to do with it.

What’s a single-use virtual card and how do I use it?

A single-use virtual card is an efficient payment delivery method that's become popular with vendors.

The card is delivered via email and you can only process it once for the total payment amount. To process SUVC payments, you must have a point-of-sale (POS) terminal that can manage credit card transactions.

What are the benefits of single-use virtual cards?

Faster - Process payments 24/7 using your Point-of-sale (POS) terminal.

Easier on your accounting - Cards are sent with full remittance data - amount, customer and invoice details.

More secure - No need to share your bank details with customers.

Why am I being paid with a single-use virtual card?

You received payment with a SUVC because either you or your customer opted in. There are three possible ways to opt in:

Who opted in You You Customer
How Sign up with Bill Pay team You selected SUVC when receiving payment from a specific customer.   Customer opt-in by selecting SUVC as your delivery method
Which payments are SUVC from now Payments from ALL customers Payments from ONLY that customer Payments from ONLY that customer

Switch your receiving method from a single-use virtual card to ACH bank transfer or paper check

If you prefer to receive an ACH or paper check for a single payment, there are two opportunities to change the delivery method:

  1. When receiving this email after the payment has been scheduled. Here, you can easily change to ACH or paper check delivery instead:

2. When you receive an email with the card, you’ll have another chance to change the delivery method to ACH only.

Note: Switching delivery method from an email

If you've chosen to receive single-use cards, switching will affect this payment ONLY. You can change your receiving method to another one permanently by submitting a request or emailing us at support@qbousers.meliopayments.com.

If your customer selected single-use virtual card, switching your delivery method from the email will be a permanent change.
